FRAMESTORE APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN

JOHN Spearman, the founding chief executive of Classic FM and an advisory director with Electra Partners, is to take on a strategic role as chairman at the FrameStore Group.
The FrameStore Group is a privately owned company and incorporates FrameStore and the Computer Film Company (CFC). The Group is one of Europe’s largest film and television digital imaging and effects group and responsible for ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ for the BBC and digital effects for films including ‘Notting Hill’ and ‘Mission:Impossible 2’.
The new chairman said: “FrameStore Group has experienced substantial growth over the last few years and has been responsible for some truly ground-breaking work in what has become a global industry.
“My role will be to use the benefit of my past and current experience of the media world and the investment business to help develop the business at a time when significant new opportunities are opening up in the digital world.”
The move follows FrameStore’s recent management buy-out from Alternative Investment Market (AIM) listed Megalomedia plc at the end of 2000.
Spearman joins FrameStore as its sixth major shareholder, with an objective to provide input to the company’s strategic direction and to act as an ambassador for FrameStore in the London and New York advertising communities.
Sharon Reed, joint founder and chief executive of FrameStore added: “We’re delighted to have as a partner someone with such amazing credentials as John. He brings huge experience to our business and we will have the benefit of a fresh perspective.” (AMcE)
