DK-Technologies to showcase huge product range NAB 2005
DK-Technologies is attending this year’s NAB Convention in Las Vegas with a range of new products – as well as new additions to existing products – that should make the task of monitoring audio and video signals much easier for broadcast engineers.
Among the products on show will be a new HD sync and patterns generator option for the PT5300. This will support all TriLevelSync formats and will also be downwards compatible with SDI, 270M and analogue options.
The company is also showing new software for its flagship audio meter, the MSD600M++. Aimed at all engineers who are currently working with surround sound trailers and commercials for movie theatres, the new graphical Leq(m) software package allows users to mix to the highest score on the Leq(m) loudness standard. SMPTE timecode input brings automated start/stop points and gives a direct readout of where the sound material can be optimised for louder trailers/commercials. There is also new Windows based software for internal matrix setting, a USB interface utility module and BNC versions of the input-/output modules.
At last year’s NAB exhibition, DK-Technologies introduced the prototype of its remote controllable Multichannel/Multiformat Audio Monitor, the MSD660R. This is now available as a full production model and will be on show at this year’s exhibition. The MSD660R incorporates a base unit, which is usually housed in a machine room and a remote panel with a VGA display and control buttons, which is housed in the control room. The unit features point-to-point connection via Ethernet Cat5 cable/connectors; logging software for Overs and Mutes; Surround Sound compatibility at 4.0, 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1. and facilities to monitor up to 32 channels of audio. This model also handles the Leq(m) software package and is extremely helpful in post-production environments where the speaker volume can also be controlled via the internal encoder.
Heavy use of LCD monitors in broadcast environments calls for an LCD colour analyser to help adjustments of the colour temperature. With many years of experience and thousands of units in work on CRT’s round the globe, DK-Technologies has a very solid base for the introduction of its new USB interface LCD colour probe. With new Windows based software now available for the probe, users can store measurements for use as a degrade reference at a later stage as well as see and adjust the current colour temperature. Existing users of the PM5639/94 probe will find a useful upgrade path.
For engineers working in broadcast studios where budgets are critical and need for audio information is limited, DK is offering the MSD100C Stereo Audio Monitor, which was launched in December 2004 and is on show at NAB for the first time. This new audio meter provides three basic tools – PPM/VU, a Phasemeter and a Goniometer. It also offers a colour VGA screen with external VGA output and it combines both analogue and digital inputs. All National and International Scales are available via the free Windows software. 11 presets are available for the unit, which features three presets with direct access via one keystroke.
The final product on show from DK is the rackmountable multichannel Audio Monitor, PT0660M. Offering from two to 32 channels of audio, this unit has a modular structure with a wide variety of modules available. Other features include HD & SDI de-embedding, AES signals, analogue signals, surround sound monitoring via the industry-standard Jelly-Fish display; a Goniometer for stereo purposes and volume control for outputs, i.e. direct control of active speakers even in 5.1 – both analogue and digital.
DK-Technologies can be found at NAB Booth C2757. Full demos of all new and existing products will be available on the stand. DK will also share a part of the 5.1 Pavilion on C3612, where surround sound applications will be demonstrated.
