BBC APPOINT NEW HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
THE BBC have appointed former Guinness global human resources director Stephen Dando as Director of Human Resources and Internal Communications.
Dando is to fulfil the position vacated by Greg Dyke’s right hand man Gareth Lloyd Jones, who announced he was leaving in March only after a year in the job.
New HR director Dando is to continue with the implementation of 1,000 job cuts, drafted by new BBC Director General Greg Dyke last March in an effort to cut costs.
Speaking about the new appointment, Dyke said Dando had “an impressive track record of leadership in human resources.”
An award-winning writer and academic, Jones came to the BBC in January last year to assist the BBC boss Greg Dyke with his plans for restructuring the BBC. “That work is well on track and I remain 100 per cent behind the changes Greg is introducing,” he said.
Gareth Jones was senior vice-president of HR for Polygram International from 1993 to 1996.
With co-author Rob Goffee, he was recently awarded the prestigious McKinsey Award for an article in the Harvard Business Journal ‘Why Should Anyone Be Led By You?’ (AMcE)
