Dayang awarded major Thai broadcast contract

Thailand's United Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) has chosen Dayang's D3-MAM system for installation at its headquarters in Bangkok.
The system will be used primarily by UBC's postproduction department to provide media management, browsing and archiving facilities.
Dayang International CEO, Karlton Burn, said: "D3-MAM was chosen for its versatility and ease of use, including the ability to browse online simply by selecting the file name of the required clip or programme. The installation at UBC will be a relatively large one with 450 hours of 26 megabit/s I-frame storage allocated to live feeds, 900 hours to sport and a further 450 hours to postproduction. A mirrored pair of storage channels will handle transmission, each accommodating up to 450 hours of 10 megabit/s long-GOP. An additional 250 hours of standalone cache storage will be provided. Dual and triple FTP ports will connect each storage resource to a central Ethernet bus. The installation will be interfaced to UBC's existing Sony Petasite tape library and the total value of the contract is US$500,000."
Dayang's D3-MAM is fully modular and based on a three-layer structure: account, application and data. It can be assembled and configured to match specific client requirements, including monitoring, centralised ingest, transcoding, cataloguing, Java-based search, storage management, edit-room supervision, workflow monitoring, forwarding and transmission. Low-bitrate media streaming is also fully supported.
