Animated Exeter 2005 attracts impressive crowds

Animated Exeter 2005, one of the South West’s fastest-growing film festivals, has been pulling in the crowds since it started up earlier this week.
The festival, supported by South West Screen, is entering its sixth year with a bumper programme on offer.
A huge range of workshops, masterclasses and discussions are being put on, with some of the key highlights including an illustrated talk by model animator Ray Harryhausen, who brought us the special effects for ‘Jason and the Argonauts’ and ‘Clash of the Titans’.
Around 100 different animations are being presented between now and the end of Animated Exeter 2005 on February 19 at a variety of venues including Exeter Picturehouse, Exeter Phoenix, The Royal Albert Memorial Gallery, Spacex Gallery and DartingtonARTS.
A Computer Games Day (February 13) will include discussions and screenings focusing on computer animation, while the popular Animation Careers Day for those wanting to break into the animation industry is on Monday February 14.
‘Animation Exploration’ is part of a special School’s week taking place during the first half of the festival. It provides Devon schoolchildren with the opportunity to spend a day taking in exhibitions, workshops and screenings, before producing their own short animated film.
