TELE-CINE INSTALL OMNEON VIDEO NETWORK SERVER

TELE-CINE are the first facility house in the UK to install an Omneon Video Network integrated server and storage system.
The Omneon server is the centre-piece of a major upgrade and revamp of the facility's Short Form duplication area. The department has doubled in size with the capacity to cater for Tele-Cine's Short Form expanding advertising and music industry client roster from their Charlotte Street site.
Co-inciding with this recent investment, EMI Music have just signed a deal with Tele-Cine to handle all of their duplication and delivery requirements for the UK and European territories. EMI artists include Robbie Williams, Coldplay and The Beatles, amongst others. With the recent addition of EMI Music, Tele-Cine now caters for many of the UK-based major record labels.
Tele-Cine's Short Form department is the market leader in mastering and duplication for the music promo business sector and has also developed specific solutions enable their clients to utilise their digital assets in a more efficient and advanced way. This has already led to new processes such as video streaming and file transfers coming on-line through a range of applications.
Paul Forster-Jones, EMI Music, said: "We were seeking to consolidate all our business under one roof with a view to taking full advantage of digital asset management opportunities. This will now be possible through utilising Tele-Cine's understanding of the market and technical expertise. We were particularly impressed with Tele-Cine's progressive attitude and customer focused approach, further demonstrated by their recent considerable investment."
Operationally, the Omneon Video Network system provides up to 10 hours storage of ITU-601 (uncompressed) video files, allowing broadcast copies to be made easily in all formats. The system enables Short Form's technical team to better share and collaborate on programme assets, improve the production workflow process and reduce timescales.
The real power of the Omneon server lies with the Firewire switch that enables networking of the system throughout the entire facility.
The system control is performed by a Pharos Communications automation system which emphasizes the flexibility of the Omneon system and its ability to interface with a range of third party applications. (CD)
