BBC CHOOSE OMNEON SYSTEM FOR TELEVISION CENTRE

OMNEON'S Networked Content Server System has been chosen by the BBC for two projects. as part of an expansion by the Corporation in play-out infrastructure.
The BBC have ordered two six-channel systems with 20 hours of MPEG2 storage in each system for installation in their Multi-Streaming Area (MSA) at Television Centre in London.
The two projects are using OmniBus' multi-channel control and automation system, Colossus, which is the first installation of the system at the BBC. The overall project is being managed by ATG Spectrum, one of the UK's leading independent system integrators.
Nigel Smith, Managing Director of ATG Spectrum, said: "The BBC are installing an advanced play-out system which we believe will be a model for many broadcasters and content owners planning enhanced multi-channel services. It is extremely cost effective and flexible, both in terms of the Omneon system and OmniBus' Colossus control, allowing additional channels to be easily and cost effectively incorporated into the network."
