NEW DIRECTOR FOR THE BRITISH FILM COMMISSION
THE British Film Commission (BFC) have announced the appointment of Clare Wise as their new Director.
Wise is responsible for all operational aspects of the BFC's day-to-day activity, managing relations with a wide range of existing public and private bodies as well as the industry itself. She will develop business strategies and objectives to maximise business opportunities for the BFC in promoting the UK as a prime location for foreign productions wishing to shoot abroad.
The BFC last year announced a £750 million record year for inward investment.
Previously working as a freelance producer, Wise produced ‘The Last Seduction II’ for PolyGram Filmed Entertainment. Prior to that she worked on Stephan Elliott's ‘The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert’. Most recently she has been producing the comedy ‘Acts Of Charity’ for Alliance Atlantis/Sunlight and Adrian Lester's directorial debut ‘Rolling Over’.
Commissioner Steve Norris said he was delighted to have someone of Clare's calibre on board and that her production experience would prove invaluable.
The BFC is funded by the Film Council to promote the UK as an international production centre and to encourage the use of British locations, services, facilities and personnel, providing information on all matters relevant to overseas film producers considering production in the UK. (CD)
