PHILIPS SIGNAL PROCESSING EXTEND RANGE FOR NAB

AT NAB 2001, Philips Signal Processing division introduced three extensions to the DD35 production switcher series that will further extend the creative power that has long been associated with the DD-Series.
These extensions include internal DVE and RAM recorder options for the DD35 and the NAB premier of the Seraph HD35 switcher for HD production. Rounding off this trio of innovations is a singularly valuable capability providing simultaneous HD and SD production.
The FX-Processor, occupying a single option slot of either the standard or compact mainframes, instantly adds the power of four channels of DVE that are fully integrated, both physically and creatively, into the operational concept of the DD35.
Each of the four channels of DVE is independently capable of providing 2D effects in a 3D space with complete freedom to manipulate the image by providing zoom, repositioning and rotation in all of three possible axes. Additionally, the FX-Processor adds further creative power with four independent channels of full motion RAM recorder, thus providing a total of thirty two seconds of live video for trailers, animated logos or alternatively hundreds of stills.
Las Vegas also saw the launch of the Seraph HD35 production switcher, bringing all the power of the DD35 series to HD production. The Seraph, with its internal 1.5 Gbit per sec architecture, delivers to the user ninety inputs and an associated twenty Auxiliary buses and still assures the user the freedom provided by four dedicated outputs per M/E. Despite the fact that the processing power has quintupled from that employed at standard definition, the mainframe size and production power has remained the same. Indeed, this commonality extends as far as ensuring that any standard DD35 control panel provides full functionality of the Seraph. In fact, when integrated into a DD35 production switcher network, operators are able to control the Seraph from different panels during live production.
Finally, completing this trio of products for NAB, Philips introduced MultiDef. This innovative feature delivers the capability for a single technical director to simultaneously produce from a single control panel both HD and SD programme outputs.
