CIPRICO DELIVER BROADCAST STREAMS OVER IP

CIPRICO, designers, manufacturers and marketers of high performance storage solutions, announced their new turnkey streaming solution delivers an extraordinary amount of simultaneous broadcast quality streams over IP networks at NAB.
Ciprico’s NETarray, the central storage solution delivering the streams, saturates the Fibre Channel bandwidth at nearly 800 Mbps. Each NETarray leads the industry by delivering well over 500 1.5 Mbps streams as part of the basic turnkey solution. The solution is scalable to thousands of streams, meeting the most demanding requirements.
Ciprico’s turnkey solutions include video servers, streaming software from Streaming21 or RealNetworks, a Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet switch and Ciprico’s NETarray, bundled in a racked configuration for an appliance-like installation. Video servers are load balanced for increased efficiency and availability and configured as one system running on shared Ciprico storage. The solutions support a variety of stream rates from 28.8 kbps to HDTV quality, and file formats including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP3 and MPEG-4.
According to research conducted by the Missouri School of Journalism, 75 per cent of broadcast companies have staffs dedicated to delivery of Internet content.
