BAL extends life of monitors & VCR’s

BAL Broadcast has made available a suite of Balboxes that are specifically designed to extend the usefulness of analogue component monitors and VCRs such as BETA SP.
The suite consists of six Balboxes. The ASVC010 is a 10-bit YUV to SDI converter. This allows exceptional conversion quality from the analogue signal. The reverse direction is catered for by the SVAC010, which also provides 10-bit conversion – again maintaining the highest quality standards.
The audio is dealt with according to the user’s needs. Clearly, an installation which operates with analogue audio has no need for audio conversion. For operation in an AES environment, the Balbox pair AASA010/SAAA010 provides conversion from analogue to AES and back to analogue. For systems employing embedded audio, the AAEM010 and AAEX010 Balboxes will embed analogue audio into the SDI data-stream and extract analogue audio from SDI.
This suite of Balboxes provides a cost-effective way of updating analogue VCR’s for use in a digital environment.
Many analogue component monitors do not have SDI interfaces available. The SVAC010 BALBOX can be used to provide excellent picture quality since its 10-bit conversion utilises the full dynamic range of the video signal. This is particularly visible in graphics generated video where colour gradations need to be smoothly displayed.
