SONY SELECT PINNACLE SYSTEMS TARGA 3000

PINNACLE Systems have announced that Sony have selected the Pinnacle Systems’ TARGA 3000 video production platform as the core video processor for a new generation of MPEG IMX editing products.
The new XPRI professional non-linear editing system as well as its content network Management Platform and media management products use the TARGA 3000 solution. Sony will also use Pinnacle Systems’ Commotion Pro software to offer industry-leading visual effects capabilities in the XPRI system.

With TARGA 3000 as a base, Sony XPRI non-linear editing system users gain two channels of serial digital video in and out, along with up to eight channels of embedded digital audio. In addition, Pinnacle Systems’ memory centric HUB3 architecture provides Sony users advanced effects and compositing.
TARGA 3000 also offers Sony XPRI users simultaneous support for both uncompressed and MPEG IMX video as its native format. In addition, with two Motorola DSPs on-board, they also have access to advanced multi-channel real-time audio fx and mixing.
In addition to using TARGA 3000, every XPRI system will include Commotion Pro 3.1, Pinnacle Systems’ award-winning visual effects software. Commotion’s compositing, rotoscoping, motion tracking and paint features will help XPRI system editors do extensive retouch work quickly and simply. They will also be able to create complex visual effects like stabilizing shaky shots and matching moving clips together. (CD)
