Dayang VIPS 3000 Multidefinition Servers In Production

Dayang announces that its VIPS 3000 range of multi-definition servers is now in production.
Introduced in prototype at NAB 2006 in April, the 3000 series provides simultaneous output of HD and SD signals. HD ingest and playout can be performed in MPEG-I, MPEG-IBP and DVCPRO HD formats. SD ingest and broadcasting of files in DV25, DV50, MPEG-I, MPEG-IBP formats are also supported.
"The VIPS 3000 series is ideal for broadcasters who wish to leave their options open for an upward migration to HD or who are already running HD services," explains Karlton Burn, Dayang International CEO. "The server's ability to deliver HD and SD feeds in parallel allows 625i/525i transmission to be handled seamlessly during the expansion of an SD channel into HD or as entirely new dual-format channels are introduced. SD broadcasters have greatly increased their efficiency by advancing from tape-based operation to a combination of live and server-based playout. The VIPS 3000 allows the same benefits to be achieved by HD and multidefinition broadcasters."
VIPS 3000 multidefinition servers are available in three versions: VIPS 3412 (one input, two outputs), VIPS 3424 (two inputs, four outputs) and VIPS 3404 (four inputs, four outputs). All inputs and outputs are capable of handling HD or SD signals. VIPS 3000 HD servers incorporate a dual-core CPU and broadcast-quality I/O board accepting analogue or digital HD or SD inputs plus external sync. IP-SAN networking is fully supported. Two 1 gigabit/s Ethernet ports are incorporated, a separate 2 gigabit/s port being available and as option. Controllable via VDCP, the servers can be used to capture and play HD/SD signals as well as for upconversion/downconversion playout. Component signals (4:2:2 and 4:2:0) can be handled as well as composite, Y/C, SMPTE-259M SDI and ASI. Two stereo digital/analogue audio inputs are provided plus four digital/analogue stereo outputs. Audio processing is fully transparent to Dolby-E and Dolby AC-3 signals.
