Unions begin petition supporting BBC independence

Bectu and the NUJ are circulating a petition to support the BBC against what the unions describe as the “current background of political and commercial pressure.”
In the wake of Lord Hutton’s highly critical report and with the Charter Review approaching both unions believe the BBC is facing a threat to the range of programmes it makes, as well as its role as the major public service broadcaster.
More details, along with a downloadable petition form, can be found on at www.bectubbc.org.uk.
