APTN provide global US election coverage

On last week’s US Election Day, news organisations across the United States and around the world relied on The Associated Press (AP) and Associated Press Television News (APTN) for up-to-the-minute breaking news and an accurate count of votes in what promised to be a close and contentious race.
In a broadcasting first, APTN Direct, APTN's live-to-air news service, covered the counting at both the AP New York and Spokane vote counting centres, feeding images of the tabulation to clients worldwide while AP Pulitzer Prize-winning political correspondent Walter Mears provided live, on-camera analysis of the continuing drama.
APTN Broadcast Services, provider of television facilities for international broadcasters, organised its biggest ever US operation to cover the presidential election, providing 12 fully-equipped broadcast positions, complete with international satellite paths, in Boston, New York, and Washington DC.
As the votes were cast and counted and the results announced, APTN Broadcast Services enabled international broadcasters' senior reporters, main anchors, and presenters live positions from inside the White House grounds, overlooking the White House, from the Republican party's national headquarters in DC and from the Democrats' street party in Boston. In addition, APTN Broadcast Services aided broadcasters with their own unique requests for exclusive satellite truck positions in key locations.
APTN Broadcast Services provided facilities to over 40 broadcasters from 30 countries. From Canal 13 in Argentina, Televisa in Mexico, the BBC, ITN and GMTV in the United Kingdom, TF1 and FR3 in France, RTL and Pro7 in Germany, to stations in Taiwan and Hong Kong, APTN Broadcast Services provided a range of facilities from a single camera stand-up to a multiple camera, multiple location, satellite and studio switching centre.
