GearBox upgrades ‘Soho-X-Suite’

London based professional audio/video equipment sales and rental company GearBox has relocated and expanded its ‘Soho-X-Suite’ demonstration studio.
Located just around the corner from the new Apple Store in Regent Street and within the world-renowned production facility Goldcrest Post, the new demo studio is based around the latest generation Apple Power Mac G5, with dual 23” Cinema Displays, running Mac OS X 10.3 'Panther'.
The ‘Soho-X-Suite’ demo studio is designed to offer a ‘real-life’ working environment showcase for Apple’s suite of professional media production applications - Final Cut Pro HD, DVD Studio Pro, Logic Pro, Motion and Shake.
Professional video hardware options include the high definition AJA Kona 2 and Io non-linear systems, coupled with Apple's Xserve RAID running Xsan software.
The installed digital audio system comprises a 'super-charged' Digidesign Pro Tools|HD3 Accel v6.X core system, with 192 high-def I/O’s. Digidesign’s PRE, MIDI-I/O and SYNC-I/O are also included. The system is loaded with every available plug-in.
The 'Soho-X-Suite' also has the latest Digidesign technology - DigiDelivery Serv|GT global file transfer solution installed on a super-fast Sohonet based broadband connection.
“We’ve called the room the ‘Soho-X-Suite’ to demonstrate our on-going commitment to Apple’s operating system,” said GearBox MD Richard Eastwood. “Mac OS X is the premier platform for media professionals and our studio is a powerful demonstration of that fact.”
Completing the installation are Sony 42" Plasma and 20" PVM picture options, plus a JBL Pro LSR6300 series 5.1 surround monitoring system
While every other facility in Soho commands an hourly rate, the chance to test drive the ultimate Apple Power Mac G5 OS X media production system comes at no charge. The experience is further enhanced by the inclusion of an experienced GearBox product specialist, who is on-hand to guide visitors through all the latest OS X based professional media production applications and their features.
