PRO-BEL AUTOMATION FOR TBS SUPERSTATION

THE PRO-BEL division of Chyron Corporation have recently completed a dual redundant automation system for Turner Broadcasting System’s TBS Superstation and WTBS, Atlanta.
TBS Superstation is Turner Broadcasting's flagship entertainment network, reaching more than 83 million US homes.
Chyron Pro-Bel has specially developed the Super Duo system, based upon their popular Sextant 4 automation system, in use by many other broadcasters worldwide. Super Duo is in effect two complete automation systems, which are mirrored together. Super Duo's advanced synchronisation technology allows one TBS Superstation operator with one terminal to control both main and backup systems. The redundant transmission path follows any schedule edits or changes made on the main transmission path because they are synchronised in real-time.
The operator can switch seamlessly between transmission paths while maintenance or upgrades are carried out, without losing any schedule edits. Should one system fail, the station keeps on-air with the other, even if it is a source failure such as the main video server. The configuration can even support dual master control switchers for the ultimate in resilience.
In addition to Sextant automation, Chyron Pro-Bel have supplied the TBS Superstation with an array of their MAPP Asset Management products. These include MAPP Playout Station, Cache, Acquisition, Admin, Fibre Channel Manger and Request Controller.
