Lion Scotland scoops Emmy for ‘Hiroshima’

Lion Television, one of the UK’s leading independent production companies, has won an Emmy Award for ‘Hiroshima’; an episode from its acclaimed dramatic history documentary series, ‘Days That Shook The World’ (BBC Two/BBC Four/The History Channel).
The Hiroshima film, which uses reconstruction and archive footage alongside location footage from Japan to bring Hiroshima’s historic events to life, received three nominations in the News & Documentary awards and won the Emmy for Sound Design and Music.
The Emmy Award is the third accolade for Hiroshima and acknowledges the work of editor, Chris King, composers, Andy Bush and Dave Gale, and Molinare sound team Afshin Trirabady and John Stanton Dunn.
Director Stephen Walker was also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Direction and Steven Gray for Best Cinematography.
The 12 x 60’ ‘Days That Shook The World’ series, produced by Lion Scotland, reconstructs some of the most important days in world history, hour by hour as events unfold, illustrating why that day changed the course of history for ever. The series was broadcast across the History Channel, BBC Two and BBC Four.
Richard Bradley, Joint Managing Director at Lion TV, said: “We’re delighted to receive the Emmy Award for Hiroshima; it’s certainly an exceptional programme on an important subject made by an outstanding team. It thoroughly deserves such recognition. Lion has now picked up top industry honours for this production, which is the best possible validation of our expertise as a historical drama documentary specialist.”
