ATG Broadcast upgrades ‘Newsround’ digital studio

ATG Broadcast, one of Europe's leading broadcast system integrators, has upgraded the BBC's ‘Newsround’ digital studio and relocated it from Studio 2 at Television Centre to the East Tower.
Located within the Children's Post Production Village on the first floor, the new studio will produce content for digital transmission on The CBBC Channel.
The expanded Newsround Digital facility comprises a single-camera studio with a sound and vision control room, voiceover booth and apparatus room. A new Custom Consoles desk in the control room houses a Snell & Wilcox Switchpack vision mixer, Yamaha digital audio mixer, Pro-Bel routing and Trilogy Orator talkback. The desk itself is 4 metres in width; beech-veneered with a hard-wearing Marmoleum worksurface, it was designed specifically to suit the studio dimensions.
ATG Broadcast engineer Scott Adams said: "The contract was completed within a very tight timescale, just five weeks from start to mid-August completion, including the design of purpose-built furniture. The result gives BBC Newsround Digital substantially improved technical resources within its own specially designed space."
