Merging Technologies and Dayang to introduce new NLE system at IBC 2004

Dayang Technology Development, in collaboration with Merging Technologies, will use this year’s IBC Exhibition to unveil for the first time in Europe its very latest NLE video workstation, the D3-Edit.
This follows its world premier this month at the Beijing International Radio, TV and Film Equipment Exhibition (BIRTV).
Over the past two years the two companies have worked closely together on the design and manufacture of the D3-Edit, which utilises Merging Technologies’ award winning Mykerinos digital audio DSP hardware and synchronization features.
Dayang’s Wentao Chen explained: “Our goal was to build a really world class video NLE with outstanding audio and synchronization features unlike anything else on the market. Merging Technologies together with its integration partner Merging Asia, helped us to realize this goal by working with us to fully integrate its high-end digital audio hardware into our latest product.”
The new D3-Edit can support up to a 24-bit audio sampling rate, which in terms of accuracy is both higher than that of a standard video camera and video recorder.
Its fantastic features include a virtualised mixer, which has channel and bus features identical to those of a real console including mute, solo, volume control, and group assignment.
Analogue and digital interfaces, along with microphone pre-amp with phantom power. The capability to support true 5.1 surround sound productions and an internal dynamic processor including compressor, expander, and limiter.
The D3-Edit will begin shipping this month. It has already attracted much attention in China, with 24 units being shipped to Chinese television broadcaster Guangzhou TV.
Ken Barnsley, Merging’s Sales and Marketing Manager, said: “Merging has always had a very strong OEM side to its business with customers like Avid Technology, Incite, Cube-tech, Waveframe and more. We were particularly pleased to reach an agreement with Dayang as their range of NLE systems is by far the professional industry standard in China. The integration development was really straightforward and is a tribute to the professionalism and capabilities of both development teams at Merging and Dayang, especially considering the two teams were over 3000 miles apart. I feel that the D3-Edit’s combined technology makes it a very serious machine and I believe it is set to become a world leader in the professional NLE market.”
