BBC One commissions second series of Twofour’s ‘Accidents Can Happen’

Following the success of the pilot series of ‘Accidents Can Happen’ on BBC One, Controller of Daytime Alison Sharman has commissioned Twofour Productions to make a further 20 one hour programmes.
Accidents Can Happen, presented by Nadia Sawalha, follows what happens after disaster strikes a home - from floods and fires to crashes and explosions.
The families are unprepared for the heartbreak of seeing their houses and possessions destroyed.
In ‘Accidents Can Happen’ Sawalha joins these families as they pick up the pieces and navigate their way through the process of re-building their homes.
The series shows what they go through and that, however awful it appears, they don't have to face the horror alone.
Twofour Productions has teamed up with the UK's leading insurance companies to see how their teams of experts measure up to the challenge of putting things right.
"Accidents Can Happen is a really challenging project that proves that difficult subject areas can be tackled on daytime budgets. We're delighted it's returning for a longer run," said Executive Producer, Melanie Leach.
"Since starting the series I have been amazed at the high number of homes that are destroyed by accidents each year," added Series Producer, Simon Walton. "The recent floods, including the tragic destruction of Boscastle in North Cornwall, have been particularly traumatic for many families and we have already filmed some horrific devastation. The exciting bit though, is seeing how the insurance companies knuckle down to sorting out the mess. Hopefully it won't be too long before the we can reach an emotional climax when each family is reunited with their transformed home and restored possessions."
