FILM COUNCIL ANNOUNCE FIRST RAFT OF INVESTMENTS

THE FILM Council's Development Fund have announced a first raft of investments in single projects totalling £265,100 and will be announcing more investments in the near future.
The council fund administrators are taking part in discussions with other filmmakers to provide backing for further single film projects.
The fund went ‘live’ on October 1 last year and aims to broaden the quality, range and ambition of British film projects and develop new talent. Its aims are to bring together screenwriters, script editors, directors, producers and a mixture of other creative talents to increase the number of quality scripts moving to production.
The fund, with a dedicated £5 million a year will, over time, build creatively focused relationships with a breadth of talent ranging from ‘first timers’ to experienced practitioners.
Investing in projects at all stages of their development, the fund also seeks to enable British film companies to grow sustainable businesses.
The first projects will be titled: ‘Kisses After Dark’; ‘Julia’; ‘Canteen Culture’; ‘The Monday Club’; ‘The Dope Priest’; ‘Carol’; ‘Family Entertainment’; ‘Gods Of War’ and ‘The Hangman’s Apprentice’. (CD)
