NIFC ANNOUNCE NEW DIGITAL SHORT FILM SCHEME
THE NORTHERN Ireland Film Commission (NIFC) announced the first series of DEVIATE, a new digital short film scheme for Northern Ireland, at the Ormeau Baths Gallery.
Funded by the NIFC, Belfast City Council and the new UK Film Council, DEVIATE is designed to find local film-making talent and to provide them with the opportunity to express themselves new and innovative ways using digital formats.
In order to deliver this groundbreaking scheme to ‘grass roots’ film-makers and the funders have teamed up with Northern Visions and the Nerve Centre.
Andrew Reid, Head of Locations and Information at the NIFC, said: "This scheme is designed to allow film-makers to experiment with visual story telling in a supportive environment. The inclusion of our production company partners, the Nerve Centre and Northern Visions is essential to both the spirit and successful delivery of the scheme."
Caroline Cooper of the UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund Regions and Nations Office, said: "The Film Council are looking forward to collaborating with the NIFC and Belfast City Council in the selection, development and production of this new scheme. We want a new generation of filmmakers to roll up their sleeves and bring real imagination and flair to this shorts scheme."
The deadline for applications is 12.00pm on Monday September 3, 2001. For guidelines and an application form for the scheme, contact the NIFC on Tel: (028) 9023 2444. (CD)
