Bradford Animation Festival 2004 programme nears completion
The Bradford Animation Festival (BAF) is the UK’s largest and longest-running animation festival.
Host to masterclasses, seminars, extensive screening programmes and special events with some of the industry’s leading figures, BAF is fast becoming a major event in the European festivals calendar.
The programme for 2004 is almost complete, with an eclectic mix of events and special guests including Oscar-nominated director Paul Driessen, acerbic wit Phil Mulloy, acclaimed auteur animator Caroline Leaf, stop-motion master Barry Purves, Randy Cook (creator of Gollum in LOTR) and Aardman founder Peter Lord.
Special events include masterclasses on Creating a Television Series, Sound Design and Music for Animation with Collingwood O’Hare Entertainment and premières of this year’s animate! films and Channel 4’s Animator In Residence films.
The festival also includes the BAF Awards, the only annual awards for animation in the UK. This year’s submissions have reached record levels with 1,065 films submitted for entry - a 78% increase on submissions to BAF 2003 and in the same league as Annecy and Zagreb.
In addition this year’s submissions come from 52 countries, which represents a 33% increase on BAF 2003, demonstrating the festival’s coming of age in the international festival community and reinforcing BAF’s position as the UK’s biggest animation festival.
The full programme for BAF 2004 will be available soon.
The 11th Bradford Animation Festival runs from Wednesday 10 – Saturday 13 November 2004.
