RTÉ awards new daytime show contract

RTÉ has announced the award of one of two key daytime contracts to produce live daytime programming for RTÉ One this Autumn.
Green Inc. Film and Television Ltd has been awarded the contract to produce a new, live daily television show following a limited tender process which had invited a number of production companies to submit ideas earlier this summer. The show will be broadcast every day on RTÉ One, in an afternoon slot of an hour-plus, from October 2004 to April 2005.

As well as having an excellent track record in television production, they demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the daytime viewer and an awareness of the type of content and programming that will appeal to this slot's broad and loyal audience. "
The exact format of the show and its presenters will be announced in due course.
Green Inc. was set up in 1996 by broadcaster and entertainer Patrick Kielty and BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning programme maker Stephen Stewart, along with Harry Carvill. The company, which is approaching its 300th broadcast, has produced a wide range of programming for Irish and UK channels, including ‘It's Not The Answer’ and ‘It's A Family Affair’ for RTÉ; ‘Patrick Kielty…Almost Live’, ‘Anderson In…’, and documentary series ‘Music Asides’ for BBC; and ‘Red Bull Soap Box Race’ and ‘DJ Academy’ for Channel 4.
RTÉ will also bring another brand new production to the screens in daytime this Autumn. The broadcaster has invited a number of independent production companies to tender for a daily, topical discussion programme. The final decision and details of that show will be released in the coming weeks.
