BBC Sounds Launches New Podcast

News Image
A new BBC Sounds podcast launching today will investigate the shocking allegations and conspiracies swirling around one of hip-hop's biggest moguls, Sean 'Diddy' Combs.

For decades, Diddy ruled the music industry, earning his place as rap royalty. He’s now behind bars in a notorious New York jail awaiting trial, accused of sex trafficking, transportation for prostitution and racketeering conspiracy. He denies all the allegations.

In Diddy on Trial, BBC journalist Anoushka Mutanda-Dougherty will unravel the truth behind the headlines and consider how these allegations have put hip hop, and the wider music industry firmly under the spotlight. The podcast will explore the conspiracy theories that threaten to bring down Hollywood, and rumours of entertainment’s biggest names being complicit in abuse. Anoushka will hear from alleged victims, who say their stories expose a dark underbelly beneath the glitz and glamour.

With the lines between fact and fiction blurring, the internet is buzzing with wild rumours. Anoushka will be joined each week by expert guests and insiders right at the heart of the story. Together they’ll consider every line of inquiry and interrogate what’s true and what’s not.

Anoushka Mutanda-Dougherty said: "I was raised on Hip-Hop, and if you know Hip-Hop you know P-Diddy. He wasn't just a hit maker or talent spotter, he was fundamental in manoeuvring the music from something on the fringes of pop culture into the mainstream.

"When the allegations emerged, it was obvious how big this could be. But it's also fertile ground for rumour, and conspiracy. I’m looking forward to unpacking what’s true. I know everyone has so many questions so we’re here to investigate the rumours, confront the theories, and give you the answers you need. I want to hear from you so get in touch and send us your thoughts."
