Polecam dive into Athens Olympics

Six Polecam rigs will be at the 2004 Olympics in Athens to cover a wide range of sports, primarily aquatics, including swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo, but also to include the triathlon, track and field events and the opening and closing ceremonies.
For the aquatic events, Polecam will be fitted with the new Dive Bag, ‘Das Boot’ as it has affectionately come to be known, a waterproof rubber housing which allows the Polecam remote camera head to transition between, and operate both above and just below the water surface.
Polecam is a lightweight, portable jib-arm and broadcast camera system with a 1.5m - 6m reach, weighing a maximum of 20kg, which packs away into two bags with a carrying weight of just 35kg. It can be rigged and de-rigged quickly - average rig time is just 10 minutes and de-rig 5 minutes - and is unique in that it requires no setup tools. Smooth, floating crane shots can be made quickly and efficiently with fast relocation.
The boom is rigged from lightweight carbon fibre tubes, which slot easily together. It can be rigged using from one to five tubes, with or without the unique elbow section that can be used to get up and over obstacles.
