MediaKind Announces Agreement With Slovak Telekom
MediaKind has announced a strategic agreement with Slovak Telekom, a Deutsche Telekom Group company, to transform its TV distribution headend through the deployment of MediaKind’s next Aquila Broadcast solution.
This transition marks a significant step in Slovak Telekom’s ongoing evolution towards a future-ready, cloud-capable broadcast infrastructure.
The next-generation Aquila Broadcast compression, monitoring, and control solution will be deployed on-premises, utilizing Slovak Telekom’s local cloud-ready infrastructure. The deployment includes the option to extend into hybrid cloud environments and incorporates advanced redundancy schemes, ensuring robust, continuous service delivery. It will enable Slovak Telekom to maintain exceptional video quality across all distribution platforms while benefiting from the flexibility and scalability offered by cloud technologies.
"Aquila Broadcast represents the next chapter in our longstanding partnership with MediaKind, ensuring that our viewers receive the highest quality content, delivered with the efficiency and reliability they expect," said Juraj Matejka, Technology Tribe Lead TV & Entertainment T-Mobile Czech Republic and Slovak Telekom. "This migration not only preserves the investments we've made in our current headend but also positions us to meet the growing demands of our customers by embracing cloud-native solutions that are both scalable and adaptable."
MediaKind's AI Compression Technology (ACT) is key to the deployment. It optimises video quality in real-time by analyzing content and adjusting codecs to deliver the best possible viewing experience. This technology enables Slovak Telekom to achieve superior video quality while minimizing bandwidth usage, which is crucial for handling multiple codecs and resolutions – including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC, and HEVC.
