Mastermind Returns To BBC iPlayer And BBC Two

The BBC iPlayer and BBC Two Monday night staple is back with wide-ranging Specialist Subjects as 96 contenders compete for the coveted Mastermind Champion title.

Mastermind is back for another thrilling series, starting on Monday 12 August at on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two.

Hosted by BBC presenter Clive Myrie, the show will see 96 contenders follow the tried and tested formula of answering their chosen Specialist Subject, followed by a round of tough general knowledge questions. Those that make it through the heats and then the semi-finals, will face each other in the Grand Final in a bid to win the coveted title of Mastermind Champion and the famous Mastermind Glass Bowl.

Some of the eclectic subjects the contenders will be tested on in this series range from Caravaggio, the History of Shetland Hand Knitting and Dad's Army, to Taylor Swift, Badgers and the Novels of Zadie Smith.

Clive Myrie said: "It never ceases to amaze me how brilliant our contenders are. From all walks of life and from all corners of the UK, there's only one destination-the Mastermind black chair. Our fresh crop of specialist subjects are varied and fascinating, so buckle up for a another wonderful edition of television's toughest quiz."

Mastermind is a Hindsight & Hat Trick Production for BBC Two. The BBC Commissioning Editor is Ruby Kuraishe and the Executive Producers are David Young, Jimmy Mulville, Kate Middleditch, and Chris Jones for Hindsight & Hat Trick. It is filmed and produced in Belfast with support from Northern Ireland Screen.
