NEW DRAMA DEVELOPMENT MANAGER FOR RTÉ
RTÉ have announced the appointment of Jo Calam to the new position of Drama Development Manager for Television.
Born in London, Jo graduated from Bristol and London universities before entering the television industry as a script editor, working on popular drama series including ‘The Bill’ (ITV) and ‘Dream Team’ (Sky One). In 1999, she joined BBC NI as a Senior Script Executive where she developed successful drama series including ‘Macready and Daughter’ and ‘Nice Guy Eddie’. She switched to BBC Choice as Editorial Executive in 2000, with responsibility for both drama and comedy projects.
Working to the commissioning Editor for Drama, Mary Callery, Jo's remit will include managing all aspects of RTÉ's expanding drama development slate. Welcoming the appointment, Mary said "I am delighted that Jo is joining RTÉ and I am confident that the skills and experience she brings will make a significant contribution to our continuing commitment to strong original Irish television drama."
