KIT ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT WITH YES TELEVISION

VIDEO-ON-Demand (VOD) is being relaunched on KIT, the broadband interactive television service from Hull-based Kingston Communications, which have announced that it is to carry Yes Television’s film and entertainment service.
The deal will provide hundreds of hours of premium content to KIT from October using Yes Television’s Internet Protocol-based software platform and user interface.
Customers will have on-demand access to at least 800 hours of films and popular television programming, including movies, comedy, drama, sports, music, children’s and lifestyle material. The on-demand service will enable KIT customers to pause, fast-forward, rewind and watch programmes in their own time, whenever they want, as they would with a video.
Yes Television will bring a range of content to KIT including Hollywood movies, top-rated television programmes, sports material from Trans World International, music videos from chart-topping artists and a selection of interactive services.
The announcement marks a return by Yes Television to the KIT service. The company provided VOD during a consumer trial in January 2000 to a limited number of homes. KIT has the capability of carrying several thousand hours of material and discussions are ongoing with a number of content partners for future service development.
Yes Television will use their own software platform to deliver the VOD service. The platform is based on high-speed Internet technology, using open standards such as Internet Protocol, HTML and javascript. This makes Yes Television’s services deployable over any network that supports Internet access at 2 megabits a second or more. (CD)
