Red complete full Digital Intermediate finish for 'A Way of Life'

Red, London's premier full-service boutique post-production facility, has delivered a full Digital Intermediate finish on the British feature film, 'A Way of Life' for Tantrum Films.
The film, set in a depressed area of south Wales, centres on the brutal murder of a Turkish immigrant by local youths. Director Amma Asante took the brave decision to tell the story primarily from the perspective of the racist perpetrators of the crime. Amma also wanted to contrast the beautiful landscape of the area with the rather despondent lives of the central characters. It was this desire to contrast beauty with despair, which led to the decision to finish the film digitally at Red - primarily to fully utilise the capabilities of Red's Spirit Datacine, Pogle Megadef 2k grading system and talents of Red's lead colourist, Gary Szabo.
Szabo added: "Amma's vision was for the grade to become more 'magical' in certain scenes and more understated in others whilst flowing as a continuous piece. A bit like how a musical score underpins and emphasises from beginning to end, well we did it with colour."
As well as full grade and conform, Red's Head of VFX, Chris Mortimer carried out several effects shots on Inferno whilst Red's designer, Ally Burnett designed the opening title sequence.
Red's MD, Steve Luther added: "This was a great film to be involved with. We are especially proud to have completed the full end-to-end DI finish from title-sequence design, through grading to 2K conform and effects. A real team effort."
Red specialises in highly creative solutions for commercials, film, television graphics and music videos using state of the art technology.
