Northern Ireland's production talent brings five to Belfast
Dan Chambers, the new director of programmes at five, is in Belfast this Friday, along with four commissioning editors, to brief independent production companies in Northern Ireland on what sort of programmes the channel is looking for in the coming year.
This event will see far and away the biggest representation from five coming to Northern Ireland and local producers will have a rare chance to hear exactly what it is senior executives are looking for.
The event, which is taking place in the Ormeau Baths Gallery on Friday June 18, is being organised by PACT with the NIFTC and will see over 40 NI industry professionals gathering to get an insight into what five is looking for in 2004/05.
Richard Williams, NIFTC Chief Executive said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local producers to tailor their thinking to the specific needs of five. five has commissioned a number of local production companies in the past but we strongly hope that this event can lead to further more significant commissions. We are delighted that the commissioners are travelling to Northern Ireland as part of the PACT road show and are confident that our producers will entice them with some excellent programme ideas. Northern Ireland needs to raise its profile in the television stakes and events like this allow us to do so.”
