Versacom chooses Reidel Artist-S frames
Versacom, specialists in deploying intercom systems for major events in sophisticated and substantial venues, took possession of five Reidel Artist-S frames recently and has already put the systems to the test at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium for E3 – the premier gaming convention for the launch of Microsoft products, and at the Los Angeles Kodak Theatre for the ‘American Idol’ Finals.
Working on behalf of The Production Network (TPN), a Seattle-based production company that is the onsite production organization for Microsoft events, Versacom configured a three-frame Artist-S system for E3.
Versacom took delivery of the Artist-S systems two days prior to E3 when they were configured into racks and programmed. The three Artist-S frames were used with six DCP1016E, five RCP1028E and five RCP1012E control key-panel stations to accomplish the entire Microsoft E3 intercom system. The three matrices were tied together by 500' of multi-mode fiber.
Versacom used all five of their Artist-S frames for the American Idol Finals and contestant concert. The five matrices were used to connect the host venue - the Los Angeles Kodak Theatre, with NEP - the facility’s provider, and the live outside concert held on the corner of Hollywood and Highland.
“We purchased Riedel’s new Artist-S platform to address our current job base as well as accommodate our growth plan,” said John Arenas, General Manager of Versacom. ”When Riedel first introduced the Artist-S, we knew it was the product we had been looking for. Its’ perfect blend of power, expandability and flexibility in a decentralised fibre driven matrix system makes it the only system that we have come across that meets our needs without sacrifice.”
The new Artist-S Series provides a decentralised infrastructure for broadcast quality live audio and talkback applications via a unique fiber based network backbone. Topping the list of numerous advantages of the system’s distributed architecture is its ability to create elaborate systems, ensure reliability via its redundant dual fiber ring, and eliminate wiring costs by allowing decentralized systems to be built.
Each Artist-S frame employs a 32x32 cross point matrix in a rugged single rack unit design with all of the features of the larger Artist-M frame.
