Dr Chris Masters appointed SMG Chairman
The Board of SMG plc (SMG) has announced that Dr Chris Masters CBE is to be appointed Non-Executive Chairman of SMG immediately following the company’s Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings.
Formerly Executive Chairman of Aggreko plc, Dr Masters (57) is senior independent non-executive director of John Wood Group plc and a non-executive director of British Assets Trust plc, Alliance Trust plc and The Second Alliance Trust plc.
He is also currently Chairman of Babtie Group Ltd, the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council and the Festival City Theatres Trust.
His appointment follows the decision of current SMG Chairman Don Cruickshank to step down from the Board, as announced on January 26.
Commenting on Dr Masters' appointment, Don Cruickshank, SMG Chairman said: "Chris' plc credentials are very strong indeed. He brings boardroom experience, strategic focus and a business profile and he will undoubtedly further strengthen SMG's already experienced Board."
Chris Masters said: "SMG has undergone some major changes over the last few years and is now well positioned to deliver real growth in shareholder value. I am delighted to be joining the company at such an exciting time in its development."
