RUSHES ANNOUNCE COMPLETION OF DEBENHAM’S COMMERCIAL

RUSHES Post Production have announced that they have just completed the latest Debenham’s commercial.
The commercial features Sophie Anderton seductively rolling around on a sheepskin rug. She is wearing alluring Reger underwear, designed by Janet Reger.
The stylish commercial is in keeping with the exclusive Debenham’s designer ranges that it is promoting. The camera pans over three vignettes of live action taking place in cubes stacked on top of one another, like floors in a department store. The first scenario features a woman, who rolls head over heals, dressed in clothes from the John range by John Richmond. The second scenario features a boy and girl racing about in clothes from the J range by Jasper Conran. The final sequence features a woman doing a handstand and an elegant man dressed in clothes from the Rocha range by John Rocha. In each of the sequences the actors travel 360 degrees around their cube, apparently defying gravity.
Rushes Inferno Artist, Omar Akkari, said: "To create the illusion of defying gravity, both the set that the performers were situated in and the camera were manipulated using motion control. The effect of the set and the camera moving together in unison is an illusion where the ground and therefore the effect of gravity, is in relation to the performers. The result of the motion control rig was excellent considering the load placed upon it, but due to the mass of the set and the speed at which the motion control rig had to spin, precise repeatability of the camera move was not quite possible. Stabilisation was required to remove the discrepancies between the camera moves of the various component scenes that would, when composited together, create a smooth overall movement like that of an elevator.
In the second scenario, when the two children are walking on opposite walls, two separate passes were combined so that the illusion could be enhanced. This distorted the audience’s notion of gravity¹s effect." (CD)
