Augustus Media Selects Veset
Veset has been selected by Augustus Media to power its smart TV application, Smashi TV.
Veset's advanced cloud playout platform, Veset Nimbus, is running the 24-hour linear streaming service on AWS.
Owned by Middle Eastern digital media company, Augustus Media, Smashi is an OTT streaming service and brand that covers the most innovative products, services, technologies and business news from the Middle East and North Africa. Primarily an SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) streaming service, users can access safe Smashi content, watch on-demand, and download videos. Smashi is also an AVOD (Advertising Video on Demand) free streaming service, with over 900 hours of free content available.
Veset Nimbus is an enterprise-grade cloud playout platform that allows content owners to create and manage linear TV channels flexibly. It offers an easy way to operate remotely in public cloud such as AWS. Veset Nimbus allows for fast and flexible self-management of channels such as Smashi and features a range of all-in-one channel creation tools including live stream and file ingest, scheduling, content management and ongoing 24/7 support for users of its platform.
Richard Fitzgerald, CEO, Augustus Media, commented: "Veset Nimbus has an extensive feature list which has addressed our requirements such as high availability, flexibility and ease of operations. We wanted to move all past videos and shows into a simplified playlist and the platform has made it easy to do that. Thanks to Veset Nimbus, we have been able to transition into the on-demand world and deliver a wide range of content to viewers across the MENA region."
Igor Krol, CEO, Veset, added: "As global viewing habits continue to change, operators have to be one step ahead to satisfy audience demands. By selecting Veset Nimbus as its live automation playout service, Augustus Media can deliver the best 24-hour streaming content to Smashi users."
Smashi TV is available on Android and tvOS devices and plans to launch on more smart TV devices over the next year.
