Cobalt Executive To Share RIST Expertise
Cobalt® Digital and a founding partner in the openGear® initiative has announced that Dr. Ciro Noronha, the company's EVP of Engineering will be a presenter at a trio of virtual events throughout September that all feature information regarding RIST.
These include RIST Forum's 'Stories From the Field' webinar on Thursday September 9, VSF's Fall Meeting Series Webinar on Wednesday, September 22, and SVG's annual TranSPORT virtual conference which returns on Thursday September 23.
• RIST Forum's 'Stories From the Field' webinar – Thursday September 9, 12:00pm – 1:00pm ET
Presented in a virtual roundtable format, RIST Forum’s “Stories from the Field“ webinar features end users and suppliers using real life RIST deployments to discuss challenges and accomplishments encountered, and the role RIST played. Dr. Noronha will join a panel of experts to explore multilink seamless redundancy switching, tunnelling of PTZ signals over a RIST connection, load share, managing remote devices using RIST tunnel, bidirectional streaming, and much more.
The session will be moderated by Suzana Brady, RIST Chairperson and Cobalt Digital’s SVP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
• VSF's Fall Meeting Series Webinar - 'Introducing the RIST Advanced Profile: Professional Class Features for Media Enterprises'- Wednesday September 22 – 1:00 ET
At this one-day event Dr. Noronha joins Wes Simpson, Founder of LearnIPvideo.com as co-presenters of the seminar, “Introducing the RIST Advanced Profile: Professional Class Features for Media Enterprises”. This presentation is a preview of the upcoming VSF TR-06-3 (RIST Advanced Profile), the next step in the evolution of RIST. Noronha and Simpson, active RIST members and participants in the design of the Specification, will discuss features of the RIST Advanced Profile, which include a protected tunneling mode that can carry legacy protocols, as well as some additional security features.
• SVG's annual TranSPORT virtual conference 'Transmission Over the Public Internet: The Rise of RIST, RTMP, SRT, Zixi, and More' - Thursday September 23, 3:15 to 4:00pm ET
With the onset of the pandemic, more and more sports broadcasters began using the public internet and the cloud to backhaul and distribute live video. As a result, transport protocols like SRT, RIST, RTMP, and Zixi are increasingly important. Dr. Noronha will be part of a panel that will explain how live low-latency video contribution over the public internet has become widely accepted in the industry and how it is changing sports broadcasters’ transmission philosophy for live event production.
"It is important for the industry to be aware of the important work of the RIST Forum and I am honored to play a role in these events that highlight and exemplify its accomplishments," explained Dr. Noronha. "By developing various profiles to define levels of interoperability capabilities, we’ve made it easier for vendors to add RIST standards to their products and for users to identify product features. With RIST, interoperability is achieved through clear specifications, while vendors remain free to innovate within their own implementations."
