Sonifex to showcase new products at AES 2004

Sonifex are to show a range of new products on stand 2906 at the AES 2004 Berlin exhibition from May 8-11, adding to their highly successful portfolio.
The S2 is a new, small format, modular digital I/O analogue radio broadcast mixer which uses the latest technology components to offer digital audio quality with analogue reliability in a modular format. S2 has both digital and analogue input channels, together with simultaneous analogue and digital outputs. S2 combines all the features needed of a radio broadcast mixer in a stylish, flush-mounting chassis.
Sonifex's Redbox range of audio interfaces continues to expand with the addition of some new products which are being shown for the first time at AES. The RB-DSS10, 10 way digital source select unit is a 24 bit 96kHz capable 1U rack-mount which produces an AES/EBU and S/PDIF level digital audio output from 10 selectable AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital input signals. There are 10 illuminated front panel push buttons, which select and indicate the current channel selection, as well as remote selection. As well as routing the selected audio signal, the unit will also route a remote signal inputs through the remote connector to the selected input source, for starting external audio equipment such as a CD player. The RB-SS10 10 way analogue source select/mixer unit is similar to the RB-DSS10, but has analogue audio inputs and outputs and can also mix the inputs to the output as well as route them.
Another distribution amplifier has been added in the form of the RB-DDA6W six way word-clock distribution amplifier. The unit’s primary application is to distribute a master BNC TTL world clock source to up to six BNC word-clock pieces of equipment that need to be synchronised from the master. Two line isolation units have been added to the matching amplifier range, the RB-PLI6 6 way passive line isolation unit and the RB-LI2 stereo line isolation units. These are useful where audio is required to be driven over a relatively long length of cable. By isolating the signal using transformers, ground loop currents, which can be present in non-isolated signals, are eradicated completely.
The RB-LC3 3 way power/light controller has been designed specifically for radio and TV studio light signalling, so that ‘on-air’ and ‘mic/live’ signs can be powered and controlled remotely from a mixing console. The RB-LC3 has three mains outputs, which can be independently controlled, and there is also a telephony input so that the lights can react from a telephone call.
The Net-Log 4 channel audio logger has been redesigned to have a chrome front panel and a new software release allows automatic record start and stop on audio, 250,000 recording cuts, support for larger hard drives and an increased number of recording programmes.
Other products on display include the Courier USB portable flash-card recorder and the HY-03 range of telephone hybrids.
