Miranda releases two new products

Miranda Technologies has announced the extension of its range of workflow-enhancing monitoring interfaces for Sony and Panasonic HD cameras with the new MDC-900/920 downconverter and the SER-900 HD serialiser.
These two new interfaces are lower-cost, reduced-functionality versions of Miranda's successful DVC-800 downconversion and DV encoding interface for HD cameras.
"Miranda's wide range of camera-mounted interfaces enhances HD electronic acquisition workflow by enabling greater access to the footage via multiple monitoring outputs, as well as the viewing of key metadata, including scene, take, and reel number. The DV encoding option can also save valuable time by allowing effective on-set DV rough editing and the rapid preparation of dailies," said Gilbert Besnard, director of product development at Miranda Technologies.
"With the new interfaces, the company has created a new price entry point, and this will significantly extend the uptake of Miranda's HD interfaces in the market."
The MDC-900/920 provides all the powerful features of the DVC-800, with the exception of the DV encoding capability, and is used for on-site, rough-cut editing and the preparation of dailies. The MDC-900 provides powerful HD serialising, downconversion, and aspect ratio conversion, along with graticule markers, metadata entry, and additional audio track embedding.
The simpler SER-900 serializer interface shares the same chassis as the MDC-900 and provides Sony HDCAM HD parallel component-to-HD-SDI conversion plus additional audio track and timecode embedding.
The DVC-800/820, MDC-900/920, and SER-900 are all ultra-compact interfaces that mount directly between the camera and battery, adding less than one inch to the overall depth of the camera. Advanced power management enables operation with minimal impact on the camera's battery life.
The interfaces all handle a comprehensive range of HD formats, including 1080i, 1080p, and 720p, at all the popular frame rates, including 23.98 psF, 24 psF, 25 psF, 29.97 psF, 50i, and 59.94i.
