Leader awarded major Egyptian broadcast order

Twenty-two Leader digital test instruments, eleven 5851V PAL vectorscopes and eleven 5861V waveform monitors, have been supplied to Egypt's state broadcaster, the Egyptian Radio & Television Union (ERTU).
The waveform monitors and vectorscopes will be used to monitor the signal quality of fibre-based and microwave studio-to-transmitter feeds and to check the demodulated transmitter output. They will be installed at ERTU sites in Asyut, Sohag, Luxor, Ben Ali, Isna and Komombo. Eight ERTU television channels are transmitted within Egypt, a mix of national and regional content with a high reputation for creative, cultural and technical excellence.
elQuip BV, European Master Distributor for Leader, received the ERTU order via Madrid-based system integrator/reseller Broad Telecom S.A (BTESA). BTESA Video Systems Manager, José Manuel Alpiste, said: "Studio to transmitter links are a vital component of any broadcast signal chain and need particularly careful monitoring in countries with extremes of summer temperature. The Leader 5851V vectorscope and 5861V waveform monitor have a proven reputation for high reliability. They combine all the features needed for pre-transmission and off-air quality-monitoring as well as being competitively priced for such a large-scale application."
Leader's 5851V analogue PAL vectorscope enables simultaneous measurement of chroma amplitude and phase. Features include a 150mm rectangular CRT with an integral illuminated graticule scale allowing zero-parallax readings to be made quickly and easily. The 5861V waveform monitor enables rapid evaluation of composite video amplitude, time and frequency response.
A line selector function is provided for observing VITS and VIR signals carried in the vertical blanking interval.
