Leader LV 5100D waveform monitors chosen for Czech OBs

Five Leader LV 5100D digital component waveform monitors have been chosen for installation in a fleet of Czech Telecom outside broadcast vehicles, to be used by Czech Television.
The vehicles will be deployed in newsgathering applications with remote signal feeds to the Czech Television base in Prague.
In the face of heavy competition from other manufacturers, the Leader LV 5100D was selected for its ability to support both analogue and SDI video waveform monitoring, vector display and stereo analysis of embedded audio. Reliability, a compact half-rack-width footprint, affordability and the LV 5100D's highly flexible remote control capabilities were mentioned as important selection criteria along with the availability of 10 user-preset memories.
The contract was negotiated by Igor Janousek, director of Leader's Czech partner LICS s.r.o., in co-operation with Eindhoven-based European master distributor elQuip B.V.
Compatible with 625/50 and 525/60 systems, the recently introduced LV 5100D has two passive component serial digital input channels conforming to ITU-R656-1 and SMPTE 259M. An active output provides onward transmission of either input.
A three-channel YUV/GBR analogue input is also incorporated.
Leader's patented equivalent-cable-length measurement function allows signal level to be viewed in a form providing intuitive guidance against cliff-edge channel transmission path failure.
The positional relationship between a video signal and its corresponding image can be checked using an intensity-modulated display of a selected image line.
Electronically-generated cursor reference lines allow easy measurement of signal level.
The LV 5100D enables vector display of digital and analogue sources and includes an EDH measurement facility to monitor serial transmission error. A data dump function displays an arbitrary line of digital data in hex.
Analogue stereo audio can be displayed in X-Y mode. Ten user-assignable memories allow frequently employed measurement parameters to be stored for local or remote rapid recall.
