MACHINE SHOP RECEIVE TWO CRAFT AWARD NOMINATIONS

MACHINE Shop Special Effects have been nominated for two of the three finalist positions in this year's Craft Awards.
This double recognition of a company's skills has never happened before. Nominated as Best Modelmakers for their work on 'Thunderbirds Are Not Go', the current road tax campaign for the COI they produced fully working replicas of some of the characters, the magnificent FAB 1 car and also a complete street scene at two different scales. Machine Shop tracked down two of the original puppeteers to bring the characters to life and Lady Penelope even had her own make-up artist!
Their other nomination is for the work that they produced for Ford of Germany. 'Blue Light' required the fabrication of a 3 metre long model traffic light interior(designed with licence to increase the visual impact). This model was shot using a motion control rig and had to be fabricated to allow it to be broken down into 'slices of approximately 150mm to give the feeling of passing through some of the contents.
Both works were the result of a team of dedicated and skilled crew and close collaboration with the Art Directors Marc Homes(Thunderbirds) and Humphrey Bangham(Ford) for Spectre and Chaos respectively.
The results are announced next Monday night. Previously nominated for their work on BT/ET Managing Director Paul Mann and his crew will be at the awards ceremony and are eagerly awaiting the results.
