Latest News From Comrex

Comrex is now shipping the latest versions of its industry-standard Audio codecs – now with AES-67 compatibility.

The NX-Rack is the latest addition to Comrex's industry-standard ACCESS codec range which provides stable audio even over the most difficult internet connection.  This is achieved using clever forward error correction and error masking together with CrossLock that provides multi-streaming capability for both its Audio and LiveShot HD Video codecs.

The brand new MultiRack provides 5x full-blown ACCESS codecs in a 1-U enclosure, again with AES-67 compatibility.  It is attractively priced making it the go-to studio back-end for the entire family of ACCESS and BricLink Codecs.

Both new codecs also support HotSwap that allows users to back up studio-to-transmitter links (STL) or other dedicated links with a wireless modem letting users select a network that will only be engaged if the primary network fails. The system will warn of this status with a contact closure, and automatically fallback to the primary once it’s restored. Fall-over to backup happens in a matter of seconds, and fallback is seamless.

ACCESS MultiRack is controlled with an easy-to-use browser based interface. Using any HTML5-enabled browser, you can log-in from anywhere to manage settings, adjust controls, and monitor connections.  As an alternative MCC Multi-Codec Control can show status and provide remote control from a single Windows workstation.

ACCESS MultiRack is compatible with the entire family of Comrex IP audio codecs as well as the Comrex FieldTap smartphone app. ACCESS MultiRack features AES67-compatible I/O on all five codecs, along with AES3 and analog I/O on the first codec.

Comrex EarShot-IFB uses VoIP connectivity to provide Talkback, IFB and Programme monitor audio for Outside Broadcast and News.  A single EarShot can support up to 30 simultaneous connections without the need for dedicated telephone lines back at the station.

It is a hardware-based system that delivers one-way audio monitoring and is commonly-used in television, filmmaking, video production and radio broadcast for communication from the studio director to on-air talent at a remote location.  It is designed to provide telephone-based live studio programme and IFB audio to field-based remote broadcasts, ideal for Sports and TV ENG reporters making it possible to replace up to 30 POTS lines with one simple box.

Instead of using multiple PSTN lines, Earshot is a VoIP audio bridge to which up to 30 simultaneous users can connect bringing the power of VoIP (Voice-over-IP) to IFB technology, resulting in high-quality audio and significant savings in cost.
