Gearhouse completes million dollar purchase of Canon lenses

Following a successful year which included the opening of an office in the US, Gearhouse Broadcast has made further investments in HD technology.
As part of its ongoing global HD strategy they have invested over a million dollars in the full complement of Canon HD lenses. Additions to their range include multiple quantities of XJ100’s, XJ72’s, HJ40’s, XJ25’s, HJ21’s and HJ11’s. Upgrades were also made to their standard definition stock substituting J21 with J22 lenses.
The lenses will be used on a variety of applications and will be packaged as part of their latest offering, ‘the all format, multi camera HD fly-away’, due to be launched at NAB this year.
The fly-away incorporates the Grass Valley LDK 6000 Worldcam from Thomson and Sony HD camcorders including the HDW-750P and HDW-F900. Fully engineered and pre-configured to meet the most demanding requirements, the fly-away will be used in studio-based environments and is an ideal add-on facility for OB trucks. Applications will range from live sports coverage to live studio shows encompassing sitcom and dramas as well as film applications.
The lenses will form an integral part of the HD strategy, according to CEO of Gearhouse Broadcast, John Newton: “Our decision to invest in Canon supports our belief that they offer the best range of lenses in the industry.
