Metro Broadcast expand video restoration practice

Metro Broadcast have begun the year with a massive investment in video restoration equipment.
Nicholas Taylor, Metro’s CEO, explained: “In the 15 months or so since we bought our first Archangel, Metro’s video restoration practice has been immensely successful. We are now enhancing that practice with the addition of a Scratchbox video repair tool and a Cedar audio restoration suite.
We believe that this will give us the most comprehensive and highly skilled video restoration practice in London.”
Metro Broadcast are currently using the new equipment to restore three Hitchcock films for Universal Pictures.
Michael Smith, Technical Operations Manager, said: “Given the age of the films, they needed a lot of work to bring them up to a more watchable state. With the combination of Archangel and Scratchbox, we can repair major faults and correct such problems as film weave, dirt or scratches without impairing the films’ authenticity.”
The films are being restored prior to release on DVD.
Metro are also producing the DVDs, including the design, authoring and encoding of the material.
