Broadcast Technology to debut new conditional-access decoder

Broadcast Technology's DTCA 3000 digital television conditional-access transport stream descrambler is to make its first US exhibition appearance at NAB 2004 in April.
The DTCA 3000 is designed to descramble encrypted DVB MPEG2 services and can manage up to eight channels in a single transport stream. It occupies a single slot in the 3U DTRS 3000 chassis and is equipped to handle all major CA formats using DVB CI-CAM. Typical applications of the DTCA 3000 include content acquisition and monitoring of DVB services where encrypted services need to be returned to their original signal format. Examples are service acquisition in TV head-ends, monitoring and digital turnaround.
DTCA 3000 features include multiple service descrambling, front panel service status display and smart-card-compatible conditional access module (CAM types 1 and 2) slot design.
Signal interfacing is via dual DVB-ASI inputs and three identical DVB-ASI outputs. The unit is compact and has low power consumption. Broadcast Technology's DTRS 3000 chassis can accommodate 14 cards from the company's 3000 series of DVB receivers, MPEG decoders, switchers and DAs. This allows flexible receiver systems to be structured, ranging from single channel acquisition to fully reliable, redundant multi-channel configurations. Typical 3000 series solutions occupy only a quarter the rack space and power requirements of comparable IRD-based implementations. Each card is hot-swappable and can be controlled via RS-232 or SNMP.
