Sony To Showcase Latest Innovations In 4K, UHD And HDR At NAB

News Image
Sony has announced its plans for the upcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas, including the reveal of its latest innovations in 4K, UHD and HDR, and its new additions to the HDC family.

They will be demonstrating a portfolio of products, services and solutions on stand C11001 during the show, 08-11 April.

"In a world where TV streaming services are overtaking traditional pay-TV, mobile media consumption is rapidly increasing with consumers expecting better on demand quality content than ever before - across more platforms," explained Stuart Almond, Head of Marketing, Sony Professional Solutions Europe. "There's never been a better time for organisations to future-proof their businesses with new media services that will allow them to adapt to the new landscape. Our mission is to help our customers on that journey."

Content Creation & Cinematography
At NAB, Sony will demonstrate its latest innovations in 4K, UHD and HDR, spanning the full content creation workflow, from capture through to archive, offering media companies new ways to increase the value of their content, better engage their audiences and deliver greater colour, detail and contrast.

Stuart Almond continued: "4K production itself has become the de facto industry standard, with consumers increasingly demanding 4K content in their own homes. Research has highlighted that over 80 million 4K UHD TVs were set to be shipped by the end of 2018 and HDR is a feature in 60% of them."

In cinematography, Sony continues to work closely with creators to offer solutions which allow them to convey emotion in every frame. Visitors will be able to experience Sony's next generation full-frame motion picture camera system, VENICE, most recently used to shoot political thriller 'Official Secrets', including the recently released firmware Version 3.0 (and upcoming Version 4.0) as well as its Extension System (CBK-3610XS) which is currently being used to shoot the 'AVATAR' sequels.

Sony will be also showcasing its wider range of solutions designed to support filmmakers in their mission to deliver emotional impact on screen. The versatile PXW-FS7 II camcorder will be on show alongside the compact 4K PXW-FS5 II camcorder. While the latest BVM-HX310 TRIMASTER HX™ Professional Master Monitor will also be on stand with the 16.5-inch TRIMASTER EL™ OLED critical reference monitor, BVM-E171.

News, IP and Live Production
One of the biggest challenges facing broadcasters today is the pressure to create high quality content while keeping production costs to a minimum. From its recent flagship 4K handheld camcorder PXW-Z280 and 4K compact camcorder PXW-Z190 to its range of cloud-native media production solutions, Sony will show how its tools are driving flexibility and efficiency across the production workflow.

Furthermore, its newest additions to the HDC family will be on display: the HDC-P50 Point of View (POV) system camera, the portable system camera HDC-3500, as well as the affordable Fiber and Triax system cameras, HDC-3100 and HDC-3170.

As more and more customers choose Sony's IP Live Solutions and the industry continues to gear up for an IP-powered future, Sony is continuing to invest in IP Live interoperability with commitment to driving further industry standards, and the development of solutions that are ready today, open for tomorrow.

Intelligent Media Services (IMS)
Launched for the first time at IBC 2018, Sony will be showcasing its developments in the range of cloud-based services and micro-services designed to transform traditional media supply chains, unlocking more value from content and providing OTT subscription services.

Using the power of the cloud and digital platforms, IMS is transforming workflow efficiencies and enabling customers to create, control, connect and deliver content anytime, anywhere, to a wide range of distribution platforms. Visitors will see and hear the latest developments across new media solutions, Virtual Production and Sony's cloud-based production services including XDCAM air and Media Backbone Hive.

Sony will be exhibiting at NAB 2019, Stand C11001 at Central Hall, C-5, Las Vegas Convention Centre from 08-11 April 2019.

The Sony Press Conference is scheduled for 07 April 2019 at 2pm PST, 11pm CET, and will be streamed live.
