DFID FUNDING TO SUPPORT UK TV PRODUCERS

RESEARCH grants and travel bursaries are now available to television producers from the Department for International Development (DFID).
The DFID Documentary Research Fund has been established to provide grants to help UK television producers research and present documentary programme ideas in and about developing countries. The DFID Travel Bursary has been set up to fund visits to Commonwealth developing countries by British television producers.
The objectives of both funds are to support established television documentary makers wishing to produce programmes, for UK transmission, that promote understanding of the developing world. The bursary will allow recipients to extend their knowledge and understanding of the developing world by working for up to three months in a developing Commonwealth country or countries.
The travel bursary is open to established British television producers or journalists working for established British broadcasters or production companies. The Documentary Research Fund is open to established British television production companies; individual producers are not excluded, but are encouraged to approach established production companies to umbrella their projects for them.
For application forms and further information contact: Sally Ann Wilson, DFID Fund Executive, Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, 17 Fleet Street, London EC4Y 1AA or Tel: 020 7583 5550. (CD)
