SADIE'S AUDIO MASTERING EDITOR IMPRESSES

SINCE the debut of the new SADiE Super Audio CD Mastering Editor at AES Amsterdam, several systems have been requested by high profile music industry individuals and organisations as part of the SADiE Beta testing program.
The SADiE Super Audio CD Mastering Editor is an integrated Super Audio CD editing, mastering and authoring system and is designed to record and edit DSD material for creating a Super Audio CD master.
Available as a turnkey system only, the new editor is based on a radically new hardware platform. It uses the standard SADiE user interface for operator familiarity and is interchangeable with Sony and Phillips authoring systems.
The new editor supports the recording and full editing capability of stereo DSD material as well as down-conversion to 16 bit PCM for producing the standard red book CD layer. The system is designed to suit various professional audio applications such as Super Audio CD editing and mastering, CD pre-mastering, music, radio and speech editing.
Following the success of the prototype in Amsterdam, the hardware design has been finalised while the authoring functions have now been fully integrated. The authoring capabilities of the editor have since been verified with a test pressing produced in Japan of a single layer disc which was recorded, edited and authored on the SADiE Super Audio CD Mastering Editor.
Included in those taking part in the beta test evaluation of earl systems is Tony Faulkner - an independent recording engineer and established SADiE user.
In addition, Metropolis Mastering in London will be using their system for remastering the entire Peter Gabriel back catalogue on to the Super Audio CD format, in addition to many other prominent albums from Virgin Music and other companies. (CD)
